One of the most common Maxtor issues is factory firmware problems. Factory Firmware is stored on the disk platters in the so-called System (Service) Area of the Maxtor hard disk. If one or more than one of the disk modules becomes corrupted the whole Maxtor hard disk cannot boot up. Maxtor drives are also well-known for their line of "musical" hard disks that have a very high rate of bearing (motor) failure. I took off the old hard disk from the old PC and I put it as a secondary master on the new PC but Windows didn't understood that the disk had data on it in fact they asked to format the disk!
